Deardorff Wedding Cake

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Just a couple weeks before Charlene Deardorff’s wedding, our bride called with an urgent request for a wedding cake. We have taken orders for cakes up to a year in advance of an event, and sometimes with just a week’s notice. Luckily we were able to work with our bride on a design that would fit her style, budget, and timetable.

When we delivered this wedding cake to the reception hall at San Jose’s Kelly Park, we were greeted by a beautiful bride in white surrounded by bridesmaids in fuschia. The white cake with fuschia bands and stylized clovers, and chartreuse swags and dots echoed the colors of all that we saw in the wedding party. We were happy to help Charlene celebrate her special day.

Wrecked Mercedes

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

People get in car accidents. They spend time worrying about it, picking up the broken pieces, mending what can be mended, and finally trying to forget about the whole thing. And then your friends decide there’s no reason to just let it go.

Wrecked Mercedes

“We got your car back!” Yes, Nora, Jules, and Moe got the wrecked Mercedes with the smashed side, the exposed riveting from the missing molding, CHP junkyard date stamp, and Henry’s custom tires… back. Just in case Henry might forget, the rest of the message reads, “Happy Birthday! We love you!”

Surprise, Henry! You loved that car. Of course your friends got it back for you… wrecked!

The day after the party, we received these two notes (picture not published without permission, though we love getting pictures!):

The cake was a big hit! I’ve attached a picture of the celebrant, Henry, appreciating your work. He ended up carving out the driver’s side door just like he was rescued from the car.
Thanks, Bill

I just wanted to echo what Bill said, the cake was awesome and it was definitely one of the highlights. My husband was very surprised (Bill and I had planned this very well and he didn’t even know until it was time to cut the cake). No one has ever seen something like this in any of the birthdays we’ve attended so far – again.
Thank you! Nora

We’re so thankful to receive such praise. This is what we live and make cakes for.

Baptismal Font Cake

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Aoife wanted an extraordinary cake to celebrate her son’s baptism. Made to look like a baptismal font, the cake was personalized with a Celtic Dara knot (like Darragh’s name) on the cake base, and Darragh Ryan’s name on the next tier. Marbelized fondant was used to resemble a classic font, and a Christening cup was added at the base.

Can you imagine this centerpiece cake among the flowers and shade in a beautifully decorated backyard? It must have looked like the baptism was performed out in the garden.

Congratulations Darragh Ryan!

Black Standard Schnauzer

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Man’s best friend takes a long time to recreate in cake and fondant. A million hairs, fuzzy ears, a shiny snout, little lips, and puppy dog eyes. Designed to look like the dog on the Juicy Couture website, this black Standard Schnauzer bust needed a diamonds and pearls. Even dogs need a little bling.

As a growing small business, we greatly appreciate the support and promotion we receive from our clients and friends. The Weirdgirl actually ordered our first cake, so her repeat orders, feedback, and plugs help us know that we’re on the right track with our cakes.

Her son has received Disney’s Little Einstein’s Rocket Cake and the Pump It Up Cake for his special birthdays, and her good friend received the Baby Blocks with Lamb Cake.

Castle Cake with Disney Princesses

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

We’ve had many requests for castle cakes or princess cakes. This version of happily ever after has Cinderella, Bell from Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Ariel from the Little Mermaid dancing on top of an enchanted castle. Gals young and old will feel like a princess when they get this cake.
