1998 Porsche GT1 Race Car Cake

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

The sporadic rainy season has begun, and our cakes don’t fit into the standard pink bakery box. We were lucky to deliver this 1998 Porsche GT1 cake to Spencer’s at the DoubleTree Hotel that has a covered valet entrance.

The 1998 Porsche GT1 cake was decorated to look like the Mobile 1 race car. For the birthday boy, the flags were changed to Portugese flags. This fast car also has the Porsche logo, swirling paint lines, and Micheline tires. We should all be lucky enough to get a race car on our birthday.

When we deliver cakes before anyone from the party arrives, we’re always anxious to hear how the cake was received.

OMG, I can’t even explain how beautiful the cake turned out and how excited I was when I saw the look on my husband’s face, he was so excited so surprised. Nobody wanted to cut the cake because it was just so beautiful. You did a awesome job. I am very thankful for all your help and if anybody ever needs a custom cake you better believe I am going to recommend you.

Thanks again,

Mariela

Wrecked Mercedes

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

People get in car accidents. They spend time worrying about it, picking up the broken pieces, mending what can be mended, and finally trying to forget about the whole thing. And then your friends decide there’s no reason to just let it go.

Wrecked Mercedes

“We got your car back!” Yes, Nora, Jules, and Moe got the wrecked Mercedes with the smashed side, the exposed riveting from the missing molding, CHP junkyard date stamp, and Henry’s custom tires… back. Just in case Henry might forget, the rest of the message reads, “Happy Birthday! We love you!”

Surprise, Henry! You loved that car. Of course your friends got it back for you… wrecked!

The day after the party, we received these two notes (picture not published without permission, though we love getting pictures!):

The cake was a big hit! I’ve attached a picture of the celebrant, Henry, appreciating your work. He ended up carving out the driver’s side door just like he was rescued from the car.
Thanks, Bill

I just wanted to echo what Bill said, the cake was awesome and it was definitely one of the highlights. My husband was very surprised (Bill and I had planned this very well and he didn’t even know until it was time to cut the cake). No one has ever seen something like this in any of the birthdays we’ve attended so far – again.
Thank you! Nora
